Vernon Mann

It is with profound sadness that our beloved Vernon Mann, 95, peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family on December 15, 2023, in Del Norte, Colorado. Vernon was born on October 18, 1928, to Rufus Mann and Hazel French in Laramie, Wyoming.

After high school, he went on to college and attended Adams State University where he obtained his bachelor’s degree. During his time in college, he met his forever soulmate, Maxine. Vernon and Maxine were married in 1950 and raised Gregory and Tamara together. Vernon later joined the Navy, honorably completing 4 years in the Naval Air.

His imprint has been well marked with his treasured paint horses, mules, and his guiding business, Big Horn Outfitters. He was not one to succumb to circumstances that one may seem too difficult to accomplish. Vernon has served locally as the director of the State of Colorado Angus Association and president of the local Rotary Club.

Vernon is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Maxine. His children Gregory Mann and Tamara Mann both of Del Norte, Co; Sister Lois Rasmussen of Rio Rancho, NM; Granddaughter, Alicia Martz of Monte Vista, Co; Grandsons, Ryan Martz of Monte Vista, CO and Cody (Nikiya) Mann of Abilene, TX; and 5 great grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by both his parents, Rufus, and Hazel Mann, 2 brothers, 3 sisters and 1 grandson.

Cremation was chosen and a Celebration of life will be held at a later time.
