Tammy Lynn Salazar was granted her Angel Wings at her home on November 22, 2021, at the age of 60.
Tammy was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1961, to Donald J. and Mary E. Watson. She graduated in 1979, from Del Norte High School, and received her bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Development in 2005, from Trinidad State Junior College.
In 1980, Tammy met the love of her life Maxwell Salazar in Del Norte, CO. They married in 1986, and made their home in Del Norte, CO, and raised their children, Donald A. Watson, and Maxine M. Benavides.
Tammy worked in various jobs, but especially loved her work with children and running the daycare she established. Most recently, Tammy enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, cooking, gardening, and thrifting. She was especially proud of her children and grandchildren and wanted their happiness above all.
Tammy is lovingly remembered by her husband of 35 years, Maxwell Salazar; son Donald A. (Tricia) Watson; daughter Maxine (Brett) Benavides; grandchildren: Ashliegh, Jacob, Kaleb, Madilynn, Phoenix and Xander, her sisters; Barbara Sue (Tom) Claxton, Terry Watson, and Donnie Jo (Hank) Whitaker; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and long-time friends. Tammy is preceded in death by her parents, Donald J., and Mary E. Watson.
A Celebration of Tammy’s life will be held at Strohmayer’s Funeral Home, 205 South Broadway, Monte Vista, CO, December 11th, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., with Joshua Salazar officiating. A reception will take place at the Knights of Columbus at 595 Pine St. in Del Norte, CO, December 11, 2021, 12:30 p.m.–3:00 p.m.
