Melinda Kay Cooper

Melinda Kay Cooper earned her wings on June 9th, 2025, in Aurora Colorado. Melinda was a long-time resident of Alamosa Colorado and loved by so many. Melinda was born on October 17th, 1960, to Gary and Lydia Cooper. Melinda earned her Medical Coding Certificate and gave birth to two boys who later gave her two beautiful granddaughters. Melinda enjoyed helping others in any way that she could. Melinda fought and won a battle with cancer in 2021. She was a strong independent woman who always found a way to make it through anything life handed her. In 2025 her cancer returned but the battle was too much. Melinda left behind her husband Howard Smith (Tiny), brothers Chuck Cooper and Lonnie Cooper. Nephews Brian Cooper, Devin Cooper, Martin Cooper, Mat Cooper, and Cutter Cooper, as well as two granddaughters . Melinda was proceeded in death by her mother Lydia Muniz, brother Clyde Cooper, her two sons Solomon Lopez, and Christopher Lopez. A private viewing will be held for Family. There will also be a Celebration of Life for all her family and friends on July 6th, at 3pm at the Alamosa Senior Center.
