Lillian S Payan


Lillian S Payán 94 Grand Junction, Colorado, passed away January 26, 2021. She was born September 20, 1926 in El Canyón near Capulin, Colorado to Solomon Sandoval and Benita Lujan Sandoval. She was raised in El Canyón and she may be one of the last of the lineage Fermin Gomez Family born in El Canyón. She married Gerardo Payán and had a family of 8 children.

Lillian was preceded in death by both her parents, 1 baby girl; Deborah, and 2 brothers; Raymond and Orlando Sandoval. She is survived by 1 brother; Eluid Sandoval, 1 sister; Verna Armenta and 7 children; Geraldine (Mike) Archuleta, Lily (Henry) Payán, Wanda (Will) Leslie, Nadine (Dave) Gerrard, Elva (Orlando) Padilla, Eibri Payán, Jackie Payán, 11 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She belonged to both SDA Church and The Foster Grandparent Program (helping teachers in classes with children).

Lillian enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, reading, plants, birds, fish, coloring, crossword puzzles, her metal detector (she was always searching for treasures). She was musically inclined, she enjoyed playing the piano and accordion for her grandkids, they loved hearing her play. She also loved to travel, and in her last years she loved sight-seeing on the train.

Lillian is at rest with her mother and infant daughter “Deborah”. She was greatly adored by all who knew her and will be truly missed. Rest in Peace Mom, we will miss you always, your children. “All is well with our souls”.

Due to COVID-19, a Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
