Alice Louise Phillips

Alice Louise Phillips passed away on Feb. 3, 2021, at the age of 86. She was born Alice Louise Hawkins on April 17, 1934 in Monte Vista, Colorado, to John and Odell Hawkins. She married Wayne Phillips of Monte Vista in April 1950. They lived in and around Center for many years. She cooked at Sargent School and after retirement she cooked in the summers at Beaver Creek Youth Camp.

She was preceded in death by both parents and her son Jim. She is survived by her husband Wayne, six children, Sue (Skip McClure, Center), Trish (Dan Warmack, Wyoming), Cindy (Dan Cummings, Oklahoma), Mike (Carol, Center), Dwana (Mark Haugen, Monte Vista), Rob (Judy, Monte Vista). She is survived by one sister Evelyn Mitchell. She is also survived by 79 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She loved kids and was happiest with lots of grandchildren around. She was always ready to help whenever you called. She loved the mountains and riding horses. She enjoyed going to Las Vegas to the PBR and National Finals rodeo. She was an avid reader and enjoyed listening to country music. She will be greatly missed.

Cremation was chosen and a memorial will be held in the summer. Memorial contributions can be made in her name to Beaver Creek Youth Camp in South Fork. The family would like to thank River Valley Nursing Home for taking good care of her.
