William Derance Nye 81, Monte Vista, CO passed away May 14, 2021. He was born in Del Norte, CO on June 24, 1939 to Robert Nye and Mildred Noffsinger.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother; Larry Nye. He is survived by his wife Arlene Nye, Monte Vista, Colorado, one sister; Cara Nye, Idaho, sister-in-law; Betty Nye, Texas, sons; Kendall (Holly) Nye, Colorado, Randall "Randy" Nye, New Mexico, daughter; Lori (Greg) Giauque, Alaska, grandchildren; Linette (Tyler) Schmidt, Dominic (Alice) Nye, Logan Nye, Kaylee and Juliann Giauque, one great-grandchild; Zane Schmidt and one on the way.

He was a member of the Monte Vista Elks Club. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, playing Texas Holdem', and riding in the mountains.

William will be missed by all who knew him.

Cremation was chosen and a Memorial Service will be held Friday, May 21, 2021 at 1:00pm at Strohmayer's Funeral Home 205 S. Broadway Monte Vista, CO. Donations can be made to the Rio Grande County Hospital.
