Obituary

On March 15, 2026, Pamela Sue Rhoads completed her circle in this life, crossing the veil with the same quiet strength and bright spirit that guided her earthly journey.

Born February 28, 1967, in Grand Junction, Colorado, Pam was raised in La Jara by Dale and DeAnn Cornum. She attended school in La Jara, graduated from Centauri High School, and later earned her degree in Marketing from Adams State. Throughout her life, she worked many jobs to support her family, including her years with Xcel Energy as a designer, from which she later retired, and her work as the Owner/Operator of Pavati Pumps and Drilling alongside Justin Rhoads.

Pam carried a creative fire that touched everything she encountered, she could see magic and possibility in something as simple as a stone, a scrap, or a forgotten object. Her home and her life were filled with the beauty she crafted from the world around her. She was a fierce and nurturing mother, not only to her own children but to countless friends who found refuge, guidance, and unconditional acceptance in her presence. Pam’s heart was a sanctuary, and many considered her a second mother, a safe place, and a steady light.

Animals were drawn to her gentle nature; stray dogs and cats quickly became family under her care. Her friendships were deep and enduring, woven with loyalty, humor, and the kind of love that made people feel seen and cherished.

Pamela was preceded in death by her grandparents Parley and Lucille Cornum, Verden and Doris Mortensen, her father, Dale Cornum, and her brother, Curtis Cornum. She is survived by her mother, DeAnn Cornum, brothers, Kirby (Karen) Cornum, Jay Updike and Tim Remme; her husband, Justin Rhoads; her children, Justin (Kim) Cordova, Kymberlie Cordova, Ryan (Nyteeka) Cordova, and Kale Gracia; and her six grandchildren. She also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom she cared for greatly.

Pam’s light has shifted, but it has not gone out—it continues on the next turn of the Wheel, carried in the hearts of all who loved her.

The family has selected Cremation, and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
