It is with great heartbreak to announce the passing of our Father, Brother, Son, Cousin, Coach, Boss, and so much more. Jake Medina, 41, passed away unexpectedly on October 24, 2022. Jake graduated from Sargent High School in 1999, jumped right into the construction business until he decided to become an entrepreneur and start his own successful construction business, Elite Construction. Jake also discovered his passion of coaching basketball at an early age, as he has coached Sargent Boys Junior Varsity, Center Boys C-team, Center Girls Junior Varsity and Varsity Assistant, Monte Vista Girls Varsity, and was going to start as Sargent Boys Varsity this upcoming season. In his spare time, he loved fishing, riding his Harley, watching the Raiders, spending time with friends and family. He always did what he could for others. He was a loving partner to his fiancé, Margarita Cortez; as well as an amazing father to his 3 daughters: Maneccia Trias, Malyka Medina, and Miranda Medina, and stepson Matthew Cortez. Jake was such a funny, kind, humble, and giving person, and lived his life as such. He had a heart of gold, did WHATEVER he could for WHOEVER it was and never expected a "thank you" in return. Aside from being survived by his partner and daughters, Jake also leaves behind his two parents; Jake J. Sr., and Lillian Medina, his sister; Jennifer Medina, granddaughters; Alice and Alizabeth, one cat; Gato, and three dogs; Hershey, Chocolate, and Nestle. Viewing will be held on Friday, October 28, 2022, from 4:00-8:00 pm at Strohmayer's Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 12:00 pm at Valley Church of The Nazarene located on 228 Madison St, Monte Vista, CO 81144.
